Kim Meertens

Dance Coach

Kim Meertens is excited to be joining the Dance Zone Team! She brings with her, experience and interest in many different areas of dance.
Ipswich born and bred, Kim grew up in a dynamic and dance environment, where performance, competitions and exams were a focus. In 2004 Kim took on the ownership of Kim's Dance Studio, which she ran for 10 years. Running her own studio was a great experience and certainly one that opened many doorways for shaping her teaching style and knowledge. Kim has been thankful for the network of teachers and industry specialists she has had the privilege to work with as they certainly add another depth to what she is able to offer the students she teaches.
Highlights of her time as a dancer/teacher: performing in the Brisbane Soccer Opening Ceremony for the 2000 Olympics, numerous workshops & master classes with guest teachers, choreographing fusion pieces (concert time is always a fun time to do this!!), Exam candidates through the CSTD syllabus gaining exceptional results, seeing a routine that's been rehearsed for months come to life on stage, witnessing a students joy at accomplishing something in the classroom!
Kim looks forward to the challenges and fun to be had in 2014!
